平和って何だろう。
この問いの答えは、１つではありません。無限に答えがあり、永遠に考えなければならないものです。
今、世界では、核兵器保持、地球温暖化、人種差別、貧困など、多くの問題が存在します。平和な世界を実現することは、簡単なことではありません。
しかし、未来世代における平和の実現に向けて、少しずつ行動することはできます。そのために、ここ長崎から、高校生である私たちが、平和への誓いを宣言します。
私たちは、核兵器の廃絶を求めます。
「核兵器を作るのも人間」「その核兵器を使うのも人間」「それをやめさせるのも人間」。
これは被爆者の吉富安美さんが訴え続けている言葉です。
1945年8月6日8時15分広島に、8月9日11時2分長崎に、原子爆弾が落とされました。一瞬にして、町は火の海となり、何十万もの尊い命が奪われました。
いかなる理由があろうとも、人を殺める行為は絶対に許されません。殺戮兵器である核兵器は、決して存在してはなりません。しかし、世界には依然として12000発を超える核兵器が存在します。今もう一度核を用いた戦争が起こったならば、この地球は確実に滅亡を迎えます。そんな危険性を考慮したうえで核を抑止力として保持する理由はあるのでしょうか。
今すぐに学生である私たちが核廃絶をすることはできませんが、身近なところに変化をもたらすことはできます。それは、近くの人を笑顔にすることです。誰かを笑顔にするには、相手を知り、その人を幸せにしたいという想いが必要です。
核兵器の保持は、他国への不信感の現れだと私たちは考えます。誰かを幸せにするとき、そこには信頼関係が生まれます。信頼関係をつくる人が一人でも多くなることで、世界に連帯感が生まれていきます。その連帯感が高まっていくなかで、世界の不信感が少しずつ消えていき、核廃絶へと近づいていくと確信します。
私たちは、核廃絶に向け、世界全体が人の幸せを願う社会をつくります。
私たちは、安全に暮らせる環境をつくります。
私たちが住むこの世界は、今、多くの環境問題に直面しています。
私たち人間の開発により、この社会は目覚ましい発展を遂げてきました。しかしその反面、過度な温室効果ガスの排出や生物多様性の喪失など、発展によって新たな問題が引き起こされています。
世界では、パリ協定や生物多様性条約を代表とする国際的な取り組みがすでになされています。国際社会が協力して取り組むような大規模な問題を、私たちの手で解決できるのか。そう思われるかもしれません。
しかし、私たち一人ひとりが行動を起こすことで、変革へ近づくことができます。食品廃棄量を減らすこと、エコバッグを使うこと、ごみを分別すること。これらの行動は焼却処理の負荷を軽減でき、CO2 排出量を抑えることにつながります。
私たちは、これからも自分にできることを続けていく努力を怠りません。
地球市民として、将来も住み続けることができる環境づくりに取り組みます。
私たちは、誰もが自分らしく生きることができる社会をつくります。
この世界は、肌の色や顔つき、その地域に根付く文化など、多様性に溢れています。人種、性別、宗教など、様々な点において、誰もがありのままに生きる権利を持っています。
しかし世界では、人種差別や性差別、宗教的迫害など人々の多様性を妨げるような行為が後を絶ちません。なぜ同じ人間同士で、差別が起こるのでしょうか。人間の命は皆平等です。人類は本来あるはずもない違いをつくり出し、優劣を決めてきました。誰もが自分らしく生きるためには、差別によって考えや行動が否定されることがあってはなりません。
差別をなくすためには、多様性を受け入れる謙虚さを持って、相手を「知る」ことが必要であると私たちは考えます。謙虚な姿勢を持って人と接することで、人々の間にある「違い」は優劣をつけるためにあるのではなく、尊重するべきものであると気付けるはずです。
私たちは、相手の考え方や行動の背景にあるものを、想像力を持って「知る」努力を怠りません。差別のない社会の実現へ近づくよう、成長を続けます。
地球市民として、まずは私たち自身から、差別のない環境をつくります。
私たちは、人権を損なう不当な労働を許さず、経済成長と地球環境の保全が両立する世界を創ります。
現在、世界には働きがいのある人間らしい仕事ができない国や地域が多数存在します。その中には、不当な強制労働や児童労働によって、人権を侵害しながらより多くの利益を獲得しようとする状況もみられます。
また、経済成長を果たす中で、地球の環境が損なわれる状況になってはいけません。行き過ぎた資源の消費を避け、少ない資源投入で生産性を上げる努力を続けるべきです。
この現状を打破するために、私たちは、強制労働や児童労働など、不当な労働条件で商品を生産し販売する企業を許しません。また、少ない資源投入で生産性を上げるべく、社会にイノベーションを起こせる人材となるよう、多様な人たちと創造性を高める努力を続けていきます。
倫理観に根差した経済成長を果たせる社会を構築していきます。
平和の実現は願うだけで達成されるものではありません。
特定の国や人だけでなく、この世界すべての人が協力し合う必要があります。
「すべての行動や意識には必ずつながりがある。あなたの行動が世界を変える。」
この平和共同宣言を世界中に届け、未来を担う私たちが次世代へ平和のバトンを繋いでいきます。平和な世界を実現し、それを守り続けていくことをここに宣言します。

What is peace?
There is no single answer to this question. It may have an infinite number of answers and is something that we must consider forever. Today, there are many problems in the world, such as nuclear weapons, global warming, racial discrimination, poverty, and so on. Realizing a peaceful world is not an easy task.
However, we believe that we can take small steps toward the realization of peace for future generations. We, high school students, declare our pledge for peace from Nagasaki, the symbol city of peace.
We call for the abolition of nuclear weapons.
A-bomb survivor, Yasumi Yoshitomi, who has been calling for the abolition of nuclear weapons says, “It is human beings who create nuclear weapons, it is human beings who use nuclear weapons, and it is human beings who must make them stop.”
On August 6, 1945, at 8:15, an atomic bomb was dropped on Hiroshima, and on August 9, at 11:02, another atomic bomb was dropped on Nagasaki. In an instant, the two cities were a sea of fire and hundreds of thousands of precious lives were lost. No matter what the reason, the act of killing people is absolutely unforgivable. Nuclear weapons, weapons of massacre, must never exist. However, there are still more than 12,000 nuclear weapons in the world. If another nuclear war were to occur, the earth would surely be destroyed. Is there any reason to retain nuclear weapons as a deterrent?
We cannot abolish nuclear weapons right now, but we can make a difference in our own neighborhoods. In order to make someone smile, we need to know them well and have a strong wish to make them happy. We believe that the possession of nuclear weapons is a manifestation of distrust of other nations. When you make someone happy, a relationship of trust is created. As more and more people create a relationship of trust, a sense of solidarity will be created in the world. As this sense of solidarity grows, the distrust in the world will gradually disappear, bringing us closer to nuclear abolition.
We will work toward the abolition of nuclear weapons and create a society in which the entire world wishes for the happiness of all people.
We will try hard to create a safe environment to live in.
The world we live in today faces many environmental problems. Human beings have brought about remarkable progress in our society. However, such progress has caused new problems, such as excessive greenhouse gas emissions and loss of biodiversity. International efforts based on the Paris Agreement and the Convention on Biological Diversity are already underway. Therefore, many people may wonder whether high school students can solve such large-scale problems. But we believe that each of us can take action to change the world. For example, we can reduce food waste, use eco-bags, and separate garbage. These actions can reduce the burden of incineration and lower CO2 emissions. We will continue to make efforts to do what we can do. As global citizens, we will work to create an environment in which we can continue to live with peace of mind in the future .
We will create a society where everyone can live as they are.
The world is full of diversity in terms of skin color, complexion, and local culture. Everyone has the right to live as they are, regardless of race, gender, religion, and many other aspects.
However, there is no end to the acts of racism, sexism, religious persecution, and other forms of discrimination which hinder the diversity of people in the world. Why does discrimination occur between people of the same race? Human life is equal. Human beings have created differences which should not exist in essence, and have determined who is superior and who is inferior. In order for everyone to be able to live as they are, no one should be denied the right to think and act by discrimination.
We believe that in order to eliminate discrimination, we must have the humility to accept diversity and "better understand" others. By treating people with humility, we can recognize that differences between people are not for the sake of superiority or inferiority, rather to be respected. We must make an effort to "understand" with our imagination what is behind the thoughts and actions of others. We will continue to grow closer to the realization of a society without discrimination. As global citizens, we will create an environment free of discrimination.
We will not tolerate unfair labor practices that undermine human rights, and we will create a world where economic growth is compatible with the preservation of the global environment.
Today, there are many countries and regions in the world where people are not able to have fulfilling and humane work. Some of these countries and regions are trying to gain more profits while violating human rights through unfair forced labor and child labor.
Economic growth must not be accompanied by a loss of the earth's environment. We should avoid excessive resource consumption and continue to strive to increase productivity with fewer resource inputs.
In order to overcome this situation, we will not tolerate companies which produce and sell products under unfair labor conditions, such as forced labor and child labor. We will also continue our efforts to increase productivity with less resource input, and to enhance our creativity with diverse people so that we can become human resources who can innovate society.
We will build a society where we can achieve economic growth rooted in ethical values.
Achieving peace is not something that can be accomplished only by wishing for it.
It requires the cooperation of all people in this world, not just certain countries or people. “Every action and consciousness are connected. Your actions can change the world."
We will deliver this Joint Declaration of Peace to the world.
We will pass the baton of peace to the next generation.
We hereby declare that we will realize a peaceful world and continue to protect it.
